Venezuela launches new 90-day work visa

Venezuela has introduced a new multiple-entry visa, the PRO-V-90, for foreign professionals providing temporary specialised services in the country, according to a report by Fragomen.

The visa allows stays of up to 90 days and can be used by professionals working without a Venezuelan employer or those invited by a Venezuelan company to provide professional services.

The PRO-V-90 is intended for activities including technical assistance, operational support, speaking engagements, journalistic work and investment oversight, among other eligible services.

The visa is aimed at companies that have clients in Venezuela but do not have a local legal entity or employer presence. It allows such companies to temporarily send independent professionals or employees of an overseas company to carry out specific assignments or provide specialised services to Venezuelan clients.

Application processForeign nationals can apply for the PRO-V-90 online through Cancillería Digital. According to the report, processing takes around two to 10 business days, and applicants do not need to visit a Venezuelan consular post.

Once approved, applicants receive the permission by email and can print it instead of having a physical visa stamped in their passport.

The visa is valid for 90 days. After the validity period ends, foreign nationals must leave Venezuela and re-enter using a newly issued visa if they need to return.

Foreign nationals who are employed by a company in their country of residence should assess whether the PRO-V-90 is suitable for their circumstances and the activities they intend to undertake in Venezuela.
