University of Colombo Launches Bachelor of Labour Management Degree Programme for 2026/27 Academic Year

The Human Resource Advancement Institute (IHRA) of the University of Colombo held the inaugural ceremony of the Bachelor of Labour Management (BLM) Degree Programme for the 2026/27 academic year at the New Arts Theatre of the Faculty of Arts, University of Colombo.

The BLM degree is the only internal degree programme in Labour Management offered free of charge within Sri Lanka’s national university education system. Designed for Sri Lankans who are already employed in the public or private sectors, as well as those engaged in self-employment, the programme provides them with a structured pathway to pursue an internal degree at a national university without having to leave their employment.

The programme is conducted under the theme “Learning While Working to Become an Expert.”

The inaugural ceremony was held under the patronage of Senior Professor Kapila Seneviratne, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), and Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo.

Deans and academic staff members of the University of Colombo, together with students enrolled in the new degree programme, participated in the event.
