Under-20 School Basketball Championship Begins with People’s Bank Sponsorship

The Under-20 School Basketball Championship, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association, commenced today with People’s Bank providing sponsorship for this year’s tournament.

A media briefing on the tournament was held yesterday (30) at the Language Auditorium of Nalanda College, Colombo.

A total of 60 boys’ teams are scheduled to compete in the tournament under three divisions — A, B and C.

Meanwhile, 26 girls’ teams will compete under two divisions.

The final stages of the tournament are scheduled to be held from November 9 to 12 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The final and trophy presentation are scheduled to take place on November 12.

Irān Champika Wickramaratne, Principal of Nalanda College and President of the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association, also addressed the gathering.

The official unveiling of the tournament trophy and the presentation of the sponsorship by People’s Bank were also held during the event.

Officials representing People’s Bank, together with basketball players from schools in and around Colombo, participated in the occasion.
