Trinco Remand Prison official arrested over alleged Rs. 1.2 million bribe

The Assistant Superintendent of the Trincomalee Remand Prison has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

CIABOC reported that the senior prison officer was apprehended for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe amounting to Rs. 1.235 million from a commercial supplier providing dry rations for inmates.

The suspect was taken into custody during an anti-corruption operation and will be produced before the relevant magistrate's court for legal proceedings.
