Trade Union Alliance Seeks BASL Support Ahead of September 25 Protest Over 22nd Amendment Bill

Regardless of the court’s verdict, the United Joint Trade Union Alliance, together with affiliated trade unions and civil society organisations, has decided to stage an island-wide peaceful protest on September 25, demanding the withdrawal of the 22nd Amendment Bill to the Constitution.

A letter was handed over today to the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka by the United Joint Trade Union Alliance, seeking the Association’s support and intervention in their campaign to safeguard the judicial system and the rule of law.
