Deadly blaze in Thalawathugoda claims three lives

Three people were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital after a fire broke out at a restaurant on the 174 Borella-Kottawa Main Bus Road in Thalawathugoda town this morning. All three died later after being admitted to the hospital.
A fire department chief told us that there was no rear exit to escape due to the fire.
Six employees were inside the restaurant at the time of the fire.
Three of them came out after the fire broke out.
The fire department said that there was no rear exit, so three people were trapped.
The injured were rescued by fire department personnel after breaking down the wall.
The cause of the fire was a gas leak.
There is also a petrol station in front of the shop.
Two fire engines from the Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Municipal Council have arrived to douse the fire.
The Thalangama Police are conducting further investigations and a criminal case has been registered. On-site inspectors arrived and conducted an on-site inspection.
