Teenage girl dragged by hair, stomped on, and stabbed six times in wild Deer Park brawl in Melbourne

A teenage girl has been dragged by her hair, stomped on and punched before being stabbed repeatedly during a wild brawl in Melbourne’s west. The 18-year-old and her friend, a 20-year-old woman, were meeting a group of people at Robert Bruce Reserve on Gould St in Deer Park when they were allegedly set upon about 7.15pm on Wednesday.

The entire ordeal was captured on mobile phones, with footage showing at least a dozen youths scattering from the park as the violence erupted. The 18-year-old can be seen being dragged by the hair, stomped on and punched, while others can be heard screaming, “Kill, kill, kill.” Multiple people also appear to be wielding knives. The brawl allegedly spilled out of the reserve and onto Gould and Newbury streets and Neal Rd. “Seeing the victim be kicked to the head while she’s on all fours on the ground and then one of the offenders has jumped on her head, it was distressing and very hard for me to watch,” Victoria Police Detective Acting Sergeant Ali Samie said.

He said the teenager was found with six stab wounds to her upper body. “One millimetre in the wrong direction, we could be talking about a homicide,” he said. The teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Her 20-year-old friend was also hurt but did not require medical treatment. Evidence of the violent brawl remained at the scene on Thursday morning, with multiple knives found discarded in nearby bushes. One was a large kitchen knife with what appeared to be blood on the handle. Police said they have identified the victim and investigations are continuing.
