Tamil Union Celebrates T20 Championship Victory

The Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club held a special event yesterday to honour its players and officials following the team’s victory in the 2026 Inter-Club Premier League T20 tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Tamil Union secured the championship after defeating SSC in the final. The team was led by Minod Bhanuka, while Tharanga Dhammika served as the head coach.

The players who contributed to the team’s successful campaign were recognised at the ceremony, with cash awards and other honours presented in appreciation of their performances.

Former international cricket umpire and renowned cricketer Ranjan Madugalle attended the event as the chief guest.

Eranga Wickramaratne, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Transitional Committee, Ramesh Shaffter and Ashley de Silva were among the other distinguished guests who participated in the ceremony.

Ranjan Madugalle, who was among those present, also addressed the gathering in English.
