Taavi Samaraweera Makes History as Sri Lanka’s First World No. 1 Table Tennis Player

Sri Lankan table tennis sensation Taavi Samaraweera has created sporting history by becoming the first Sri Lankan table tennis player, across any age group or gender, to reach the No. 1 position in the ITTF Under-11 Boys’ World Rankings.

The young star’s remarkable rise has been powered by a series of outstanding international performances, including gold-medal victories at prestigious WTT Youth Contender events in Lignano, Doha and Bahrain.

Taavi’s achievements extend beyond the global rankings. He is also the top-ranked player in South Asia in both the Under-11 and Under-13 categories, underlining his dominance at regional level.
