Sri Lankan table tennis sensation Taavi Samaraweera has added two more international medals to his growing collection, securing silver in the Under-11 Boys’ category and bronze in the Under-13 Boys’ category at his third WTT Youth Contender tournament in Europe.
The young paddler continued to demonstrate his talent on the international stage, bringing further recognition to Sri Lanka through his performances against competitors from other countries.
Samaraweera’s silver medal in the Under-11 Boys’ event came after a closely contested final. Having won the first two sets, he was unable to maintain his advantage and eventually lost the match 3–2, settling for silver after a hard-fought encounter.
Despite narrowly missing out on the gold medal, the performance highlighted his ability to compete at a high level and challenge for top honours in international competition.
He also secured a bronze medal in the Under-13 Boys’ category, an encouraging achievement that demonstrates his competitiveness against players in an older age group.
The two medals mark another successful European campaign for the young Sri Lankan, who continues to gain valuable experience through participation in the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender circuit.
For emerging athletes, international tournaments provide important opportunities to test their skills, adapt to different playing styles and develop the mental strength required to compete at the highest levels. Samaraweera’s latest results underline the importance of consistency, determination and learning from every match.
His performance offers further encouragement for Sri Lankan table tennis, as young players continue to represent the country in international competitions and work towards future success.
With a silver and a bronze medal added to his record, Samaraweera returns from his third European WTT Youth Contender tournament with valuable experience and further motivation to pursue his ambitions on the international stage.
