Sri Lanka’s animation pioneer Givantha Arthasad dies at 73

Veteran animator and filmmaker Givantha Arthasad, who created Sri Lanka’s first animated film, has passed away at the age of 73.

Arthasad died at the Panadura Base Hospital, according to reports.

He was the brother of veteran film director Dinesh Priyasad and was recognised for his contribution to Sri Lanka’s animation and film industry.

His pioneering work in animation marked an important milestone in the development of Sri Lankan cinema.
