The Sri Lankan Pavilion at Hotel Asia 2026, held in Hulhumalé, Maldives, was officially opened with the participation of Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Mohamed Rizvi Hassan, highlighting efforts to strengthen trade and business ties between the two countries.
High Commissioner Hassan joined Sanjeewa, President of the Sri Lanka–Maldives Business Council, in cutting the ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening. Immediate Past President Sudesh Mendis was also present at the occasion.
The pavilion provides a platform for Sri Lankan businesses to showcase their products and services to Maldivian buyers, hospitality industry representatives and international visitors attending Hotel Asia 2026.

Promoting Sri Lankan Exports
Sri Lanka’s participation reflects the continued efforts of the Sri Lanka–Maldives Business Council to expand opportunities for local exporters and improve access to the Maldivian market.
By promoting Sri Lankan brands, facilitating business contacts and encouraging direct engagement between exporters and prospective buyers, the Council aims to help businesses explore new opportunities for export growth.
The pavilion also enables Sri Lankan companies to introduce their offerings to potential business partners and establish commercial connections within the Maldives’ hospitality and tourism industries.
Strengthening Bilateral Business Ties

The Maldives remains an important market for Sri Lankan products, particularly those linked to hospitality and tourism. Initiatives such as the Sri Lankan Pavilion provide valuable exposure for local businesses seeking to expand their regional presence.
Through participation in international trade exhibitions, Sri Lankan exporters can build relationships with buyers, identify new market opportunities and strengthen the visibility of Sri Lankan products and services overseas.
The opening of the pavilion at Hotel Asia 2026 underscores the importance of continued business engagement between Sri Lanka and the Maldives, while creating opportunities to deepen commercial partnerships and support the growth of Sri Lanka’s export sector.
