At just 25, Sri Lankan-born researcher Vernal Galpotthawela is making a notable impact in the global financial services industry, combining quantitative analysis, computer science and financial valuation to uncover insights hidden within complex financial data.

His academic achievements began in New York, where he ranked among the top 3% of more than 800 students at Susan E. Wagner High School. His strong aptitude for mathematics and complex problem-solving soon led him toward an interdisciplinary academic path.

By the age of 22, Galpotthawela had completed two bachelor’s degrees, developing expertise spanning finance, computer science and mathematics. He moved on from Bloomberg to pursue advanced studies at New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he focused on areas including global credit, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and investment banking.

Today, his expertise spans market risk, corporate valuation, quantitative analysis and investment strategy, positioning him at the intersection of technology and modern finance.
