Sri Lankan Weightlifters Win Gold and Bronze at FISU World University Games 2026

Sri Lanka celebrated a proud achievement at the FISU World University Games 2026, with two university athletes securing medals in the Men’s 65kg Weightlifting event.

Avindu Sasmika of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura won the Gold Medal, while Nipun Shehara of Sabaragamuwa University secured the Bronze Medal.

The outstanding performances have brought further recognition to Sri Lanka’s university athletes on the international stage, highlighting the talent and potential emerging from the country’s higher education institutions.
