Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has crossed a significant milestone, with total tourist arrivals reaching 1,468,980 in 2026.

The island welcomed 125,562 tourists during the first 18 days of August, reflecting continued international interest in Sri Lanka as a travel destination.

India remains Sri Lanka’s leading source market, with a large number of Indian travellers continuing to visit the island for its beaches, cultural attractions, wildlife and scenic destinations.

The latest figures highlight the continued recovery and growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, with the country attracting visitors from across the world throughout the year.
