Sri Lanka’s swimming team returned home with an impressive haul of 52 medals from the 2nd Asian Masters Swimming Championships held in Bengaluru, India, from October 3 to 11, 2026.

The team secured 10 gold medals, 17 silver medals and 25 bronze medals at the competition, which attracted around 1,200 swimmers from nine Asian countries.

The Sri Lankan contingent arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake at approximately 12.20 a.m. on October 12 aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL 172 from Bengaluru.

One of the notable performances came from 67-year-old Jehan Peiris, the oldest competitor in the Sri Lankan team. He won three silver medals and one bronze medal, demonstrating his continued commitment to competitive swimming.

Officials from the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and relatives of the athletes were present at the airport to welcome the returning swimmers and celebrate their achievements.

The team’s performance at the championships highlights Sri Lanka’s participation in masters swimming, a competitive discipline that allows adult swimmers to continue competing across different age groups.

With 52 medals secured across the event, the Sri Lankan swimmers brought home a strong result from the regional competition, earning recognition for their performances in the pool.
