Sri Lanka Reach Asian Games Women’s Cricket Semi-Finals With 86-Run Win

Sri Lanka have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2026 Asian Games Women’s Cricket competition after defeating Malaysia by 86 runs in the quarter-final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 160 for 4 in 20 overs, with captain Chamari Athapaththu leading the way with a blistering 63 off 37 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Kavisha Dilhari added an unbeaten 44 off 27 balls, while Harshitha Samarawickrama contributed 25.

Malaysia struggled in reply, finishing on 74 for 7 after 20 overs, leaving Sri Lanka with an 86-run victory.

The victory sends Sri Lanka through to the semi-finals of the women’s cricket competition at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 20, with the bronze-medal match and final to follow on September 22.
