The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Korea, successfully concluded the Sri Lanka Mega Roadshow 2026 at the prestigious Lotte Hotel Seoul on 8 June 2026, marking another significant milestone in strengthening tourism, cultural, and spiritual relations between Sri Lanka and South Korea.
The high-profile promotional event brought together more than 200 tourism stakeholders, travel trade representatives, media personnel, airline partners, and Buddhist religious leaders from both countries. The Roadshow served as a dynamic platform to showcase Sri Lanka as a world-class destination for leisure, cultural experiences, wellness tourism, nature-based travel, and Buddhist pilgrimage.
One of the key highlights of this year's event was the participation of Most Venerable Jin Seong, Director of International and Social Affairs of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, who was accorded special VVIP recognition. His distinguished presence highlighted the deep-rooted Buddhist heritage shared by Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea, while reinforcing Sri Lanka's growing appeal as a leading destination for Korean Buddhist pilgrims and spiritual travellers.
The Roadshow also featured a strong Sri Lankan industry delegation, with 24 representatives from the country's travel and tourism sector participating in extensive Business-to-Business (B2B) networking sessions. They engaged with Korean travel agencies, tour operators, online travel agencies (OTAs), airline representatives, and media organisations to explore new business opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.
The B2B meetings generated significant interest in Sri Lanka's diverse tourism offerings and laid the foundation for future collaborations aimed at increasing visitor arrivals from South Korea. Industry participants highlighted Sri Lanka's unique blend of pristine beaches, wildlife, rich cultural heritage, wellness retreats, adventure tourism, and UNESCO World Heritage sites as key attractions for Korean travellers.
The event also emphasized Sri Lanka's strategic focus on expanding its presence in the East Asian market through targeted destination marketing initiatives. Officials expressed confidence that the strengthened partnerships forged during the Roadshow would contribute to sustained growth in Korean tourist arrivals while fostering deeper people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The successful conclusion of the Sri Lanka Mega Roadshow 2026 reflects the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau's continued commitment to promoting the island nation globally, positioning Sri Lanka as a preferred travel destination and enhancing its reputation as a country renowned for its hospitality, cultural richness, and spiritual heritage.
