Sri Lanka Invites the World to ‘Rhythm of Lanka’ Cultural Festival in Colombo

Sri Lanka is preparing to welcome the world to the ‘Rhythm of Lanka’, a major cultural festival scheduled to be held in Colombo in December 2026, with the aim of bringing Sri Lankans living around the world and their children together as a Global Sri Lankan Family.

The programme aims to strengthen economic, social and cultural connections among Sri Lankans living in different countries, deepen their relationship with Sri Lanka, and encourage second- and third-generation Sri Lankan children living overseas to become friends of the country.

Sri Lankan families living overseas, dance groups, organisations, business communities, schools, Sunday schools and groups of friends have been invited to participate in the event.

The programme will take place as follows:

• December 18, 2026: Rehearsals, a city tour and dinner at the Nelum Pokuna premises, exclusively for participating dance groups.

• December 19, 2026, from 6:19 p.m.: The Grand Cultural Show at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.

• December 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Sri Lankan Social Day, bringing together Sri Lankan dance groups from overseas, families, Sri Lankan children and friends. The day will feature a range of activities, including a tree-planting programme and a fashion show.

A media briefing to announce and raise awareness about the event was held in Colombo yesterday, with artists and several distinguished guests attending the occasion.
