Government Plans to Import 50 More Buses Before 2027 New Year

The government plans to import 50 additional buses before the Sinhala and Hindu New Year in 2027, Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake has announced.

According to the minister, the new buses are expected to strengthen intercity public transport services, with services planned for Jaffna, Kandy and Galle.

The move is aimed at expanding public transport capacity and improving connectivity between major cities, particularly as passenger demand continues to grow.

The planned bus imports are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Sri Lanka’s public transport network and provide more reliable intercity services.
