Sri Lanka Boogie 2026 to Boost High-Value Adventure Tourism

Sri Lanka is set to host an international skydiving festival later this year with the launch of Sri Lanka Boogie 2026, an event aimed at strengthening the country’s position in the growing high-value adventure tourism sector.

Scheduled to take place from November 12 to 21, 2026, the festival is being led by Sri Lankan organiser Sineth Wijesekara in partnership with the Sri Lanka Air Force and Alter Ego Adventures.

Presented as a Sri Lankan-owned initiative, the event is expected to attract international skydivers and adventure travellers, creating economic opportunities for hotels, restaurants, transport providers and other businesses connected to the tourism industry.

Organisers estimate that Sri Lanka Boogie 2026 could generate LKR 180–200 million or more in economic value, with spending expected to extend beyond the event itself and benefit the wider tourism ecosystem.

One of the festival’s key attractions will be the opportunity to combine skydiving with Sri Lanka’s diverse landscapes. The programme includes jumps in the southern coastal region around Koggala, while participants will also have the opportunity to experience aerial views of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of the island’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

The programme is designed to offer more than skydiving, incorporating cultural, wildlife and scenic experiences that showcase Sri Lanka as a diverse adventure destination.

The festival will bring together experienced international skydiving professionals, world-class load organisers and professional photographers, with safety coordination based on USPA standards. The official programme includes a Y-12 aircraft, while optional Mi-17 helicopter jumps are also available for eligible participants.

Participants will be required to meet specific experience and safety requirements before taking part in the jumps.

Interest in the event is already strong, with the official programme currently listed as full and operating a waitlist, reflecting growing interest from the international skydiving community.

By combining extreme sport with Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, heritage and tourism experiences, Sri Lanka Boogie 2026 has the potential to create a new platform for promoting the island as a premium adventure travel destination while generating significant value for local communities and tourism businesses.
