Junior Boxing Tournament and Intermediate Boxing Tournament Begin

The 2026 Under 19 Men's and Women's Boxing Championships organized by the Sri Lanka Boxing Association is held from July 14 to 18 at the Sri Lanka Boxing Gymnasium in Diyagama.

This tournament also holds special significance as a preliminary selection tournament for the selection of athletes for the international Under 19 tournaments organized by the World Boxing Organization in the future.

Any amateur boxer can participate in the tournament, and nearly 150 athletes from more than 50 leading boxing schools in the island are scheduled to join the competition.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Intermediate Boxing Tournament is held at the same venue from July 15 to 19, and is also an open tournament for amateur boxers.

Nearly 200 athletes representing the tri-services, Sri Lanka Police, universities and several leading sports clubs in the country are scheduled to participate in this tournament.

Both tournaments, which will be held until July 19, are considered an important step in identifying the talents of amateur boxing in Sri Lanka and taking the athletes to the international level. Also, these tournaments will be a very valuable platform for new and talented boxers to showcase their skills and win future international opportunities,
