Swiss Champion Soléi Tauscher and Rising Star Luna Tauscher Eye International Future with Sri Lanka

Two young gymnasts of Sri Lankan origin, Soléi Nadinya Tauscher and her younger sister Luna Durangi Tauscher, have expressed their intention to represent Sri Lanka on the international stage, marking a proud and promising moment for the country’s sporting future.

The sisters, who currently represent the Genève Gymnastique Artistique club in Switzerland, met with officials at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on July 22 to formally convey their aspirations. The meeting highlighted their growing achievements in gymnastics and their desire to compete under the Sri Lankan flag.

Ten-year-old Soléi Tauscher has already made a name for herself in Switzerland’s gymnastics arena. She recently clinched the Under-11 title at the 2026 Swiss National Championships, demonstrating exceptional skill and discipline at a national level. Her younger sister, eight-year-old Luna, is also emerging as a strong talent in the sport, showing significant potential at an early age.

Born to German national Gerhard Tauscher and Sri Lankan mother Luvini Ranasinghe, the sisters have been steadily building impressive profiles in international gymnastics. Their decision to represent Sri Lanka reflects a deep connection to their heritage and a desire to bring recognition to their motherland through sport.

Officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports welcomed the initiative, commending the young athletes for their commitment and patriotism. The Ministry assured its full support in facilitating their transition to represent Sri Lanka in international competitions, pledging to provide the necessary resources and guidance.

The meeting was attended by ministry representatives, the athletes’ parents, and other officials, marking the beginning of what could be a significant journey for the two gymnasts. Their potential inclusion in Sri Lanka’s gymnastics landscape is expected to further strengthen the country’s presence in the sport on a global stage.
