Softlogic Automobiles Partners with Greaves Ampere to Introduce Electric Two-Wheelers to Sri Lanka

Softlogic Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings PLC, has secured the role of authorized distributor for Greaves Ampere, a prominent electric two-wheeler brand from India, marking the company’s official entry into the Sri Lankan market.

Through this strategic partnership, a range of Ampere electric two-wheelers — including the Nexus, Magnus Neo, Magnus Gmax, and Reo Vyb — will be introduced under the Softlogic umbrella. The brand is set to make its official debut at the Autovision Colombo Motorshow 2026, with sales expected to commence in August. Initial availability will be through the Softlogic Max showroom in Wattala, followed by a planned expansion of the dealer network across the island by year-end.

Greaves Ampere operates under Greaves Electric Mobility, a company known for its strong engineering heritage and expanding international presence in the electric mobility space. Softlogic Automobiles noted that Ampere’s proven track record and diverse product lineup align well with its ambitions to strengthen its footprint in Sri Lanka’s growing electric vehicle market.

Commenting on the collaboration, Managing Director of Softlogic Automobiles Sector, Hemantha Gunawardena, stated that the company remains focused on introducing globally recognized mobility solutions to local consumers. He emphasized that bringing Greaves Ampere to Sri Lanka supports the broader vision of promoting sustainable and intelligent transportation options, backed by reliable after-sales service and the credibility of the Softlogic Group.

The Ampere range is expected to cater to a wide audience, including young professionals, students, daily commuters, families, and first-time vehicle buyers, as well as delivery riders and fleet operators. With rising fuel costs and increasing awareness around environmentally friendly transport, demand for electric two-wheelers is steadily gaining momentum across the country.

Beyond immediate sales, Softlogic Automobiles aims to establish Ampere as a leading electric two-wheeler brand in Sri Lanka. The company plans to expand its distribution network nationwide, enhance customer experience, and build awareness around the benefits of electric mobility as a practical alternative to traditional fuel-powered transport.

This partnership further strengthens Softlogic Automobiles’ portfolio while reflecting the Softlogic Group’s broader commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. As electric mobility continues to grow across South Asia, the introduction of an established Indian brand supported by a trusted local distributor is expected to accelerate adoption, particularly in Sri Lanka’s urban markets.

Additional information on pricing, financing options, and the expanded dealer network is expected to be revealed closer to the official launch in August.
