Seylan Bank Wins Two Titles at Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026

Seylan Bank has secured two major honours at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, being named Sri Lanka’s Best Bank for Customer Experience and Best Bank for SMEs.

The dual recognition highlights the bank’s continued focus on customer-centric banking and its efforts to support the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises across Sri Lanka.

Seylan Bank retained the Best Bank for Customer Experience title for the second consecutive year, having previously won the award in 2025. The recognition reflects the bank’s continued investment in digital platforms, service delivery and customer support.

The bank’s recognition as Best Bank for SMEs also highlights its growing role in supporting Sri Lanka’s SME sector. Seylan has developed purpose-built financial solutions aimed at addressing challenges faced by businesses, including limited collateral, rising energy costs and barriers to accessing export markets.

Among its initiatives is the Eco Solar Loan, which supports SMEs and agricultural businesses in adopting renewable energy solutions. The bank’s Export Expert programme combines financing with practical guidance on export procedures, documentation and market access, supported by a dedicated Trade Hub in Pettah.

Seylan has also continued to expand its digital banking capabilities. Its E-KYC service enables faster account opening, while the Merchant Portal allows businesses without websites or shopping carts to accept online payments. These services complement the bank’s Internet Payment Gateway and Pay Direct platforms.

In 2025, Seylan Bank also became the first bank in Sri Lanka to enable Google Pay acquirer services for e-commerce merchants.

Commenting on the recognition, Seylan Bank Director/CEO Ramesh Jayasekara said the dual awards reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to meaningful, customer-centric banking and validated its continued investment in people and technology.

The bank has also strengthened its customer service through an omnichannel Customer Relationship Management system, chatbot-enabled engagement, trilingual branch feedback portals, real-time reputation management tools and a 24/7 contact centre.

Beyond financial services, Seylan has continued to provide visibility and support for SME entrepreneurs. For the fifth consecutive year, the television programme ‘Oba Pa Nagena Maga Apa Inne,’ produced in partnership with Ada Derana, has featured the journeys of more than 60 SME entrepreneurs, helping them build awareness for their businesses alongside financial support.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026 recognition underscores Seylan Bank’s continued efforts to combine digital innovation with personalised service while empowering Sri Lanka’s SME sector through tailored financial solutions and long-term support.
