Sarvajana Balaya Leader Dilith Jayaweera Meets IMF Mission Chief Evan Papageorgiou

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Evan Papageorgiou, who was in Sri Lanka as part of the IMF’s latest mission, met with Sarvajana Balaya leader and Member of Parliament Dilith Jayaweera at Jayaweera’s office.

The meeting focused on Sri Lanka’s economic recovery, the challenges facing the country, and the importance of continuing to implement the necessary reforms to build a stronger and more resilient economy.

The meeting took place during Papageorgiou’s September 10–23 visit to Sri Lanka, during which the IMF team held discussions on recent economic developments, progress under the IMF-supported Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme and the 2026 Article IV Consultation.

Following the meeting, Dilith Jayaweera expressed his appreciation and thanked Papageorgiou for meeting with him during the IMF Mission Chief’s visit to Sri Lanka.

The IMF has said that discussions during the latest mission included Sri Lanka’s economic recovery, the challenges ahead and the need to maintain reform momentum to safeguard macroeconomic stability and strengthen resilience.
