Sampath Bank Enables Google Pay for Internet Payment Gateway Merchants
· Sri Lanka
Sampath Bank has enabled merchants using its Internet Payment Gateway to accept Google Pay, through a partnership with payment infrastructure provider Bancstac.
The new capability allows businesses to offer Google Pay as a checkout option across e-commerce platforms, mobile applications and digital invoices.
According to the announcement, the payment process uses tokenisation and customer authentication, including biometric verification or device passcodes. Once verification is completed, Bancstac processes the transaction, while reconciliation follows Sampath Bank’s existing settlement arrangements.
Businesses already using the Sampath Bank Internet Payment Gateway, as well as new merchants joining the service, can access the capability without additional technical integration or development.
Sampath Bank Head of Card Centre Chirath Samarasekara said the service supports efforts to expand payment options for merchants and enable them to serve customers using digital wallets.
Bancstac Chief Executive Evan Lau said the integration reduces technical barriers for businesses seeking to offer Google Pay and supports a smoother online checkout experience.
The development adds Google Pay acceptance to Sampath Bank’s existing online payment gateway, providing merchants with another digital payment option for customers using compatible Android devices.
