Rs. 4 Million Allocated to Upgrade Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa College Sports Ground

Steps have been taken to renovate the sports ground at Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa College with a financial allocation of Rs. 4 million.
The renovation project commenced today (30) under the patronage of Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is expected to bear the Rs. 4 million cost of the project.
The sports ground, which is used by the more than 6,500 students studying at Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa College, is scheduled to be upgraded to facilitate both cricket and athletics. Plans have also been made to construct a spectator stand at the ground.
Speaking at the event, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage said attention had also been focused on providing the necessary support to develop table tennis at the school. He added that the required arrangements would be made in the future to support the development of the sport.
Parliamentary MPs Aruna Panagoda, Asitha Niroshan and Devananda Suraveera, Principal of Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa College Ajith Premasiri, teachers and several government officials were also present at the occasion.
