Royal College and Hameed Al Husseinie Declared Joint Champions at Isipathana Sevens

Royal College, Colombo, and Hameed Al Husseinie College were declared joint champions of the Isipathana Sevens football tournament after heavy rain forced their Under-18 final to be abandoned.

The tournament, organised by the Football Development Committee of Isipathana College, Colombo, concluded recently at Police Park in Colombo. Twelve teams representing 12 schools competed in the Under-18 event.

The final between Royal College and Hameed Al Husseinie College was interrupted by rainfall and had to be stopped after a short period of play. Neither team had scored before the match was abandoned.

As a result, both schools were declared joint champions of the tournament.

Gateway College secured third place.

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dr Rizvie Salih attended the event as the chief guest.

The tournament provided a competitive platform for school-level football, bringing together young players from 12 schools for the seven-a-side competition.
