‘Riverstone’ Selected as Sri Lanka’s Official Entry for 99th Academy Awards

Sri Lanka has selected Lalith Rathnayake’s film Riverstone as its official entry for the International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

The film was chosen through a newly regulated national selection process overseen by Sri Lanka’s National Oscars Selection Committee.

Riverstone and Father were named as the two finalists after six films were considered during the selection process. Of the six films reviewed, four were found to meet the eligibility requirements set by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

With its selection, Riverstone will represent Sri Lanka in the International Feature Film category as the country seeks recognition at the 99th Academy Awards.
