Restaurant Owners Warn of Price Increases for Short Eats Amid Tax Concerns

Harshana Rukshan, President of the Restaurant Owners’ Association, says prices of short eats may have to be increased slightly due to rising costs.

He expressed concern over the imposition of taxes on existing stocks of wheat flour that had already been brought into Sri Lanka, saying the move has created difficulties for businesses.

According to Rukshan, the increased costs are putting pressure on restaurant operators, who may have little choice but to raise prices, even if only by a small amount.

The potential price increases could affect consumers who regularly purchase short eats from restaurants and bakeries.
