Veteran lyricist Rathna Sri Wijesinghe has announced his resignation as Chairman of the National Library and Documentation Services Board, bringing his tenure at the institution to a close.
Renowned for his decades-long contribution to Sri Lanka’s music and literary landscape, Wijesinghe stated that his decision to step down was driven solely by personal considerations.
“I have chosen to resign for personal reasons. My trust in the President and the government remains unchanged, and I will continue to support them. This decision is entirely personal, mainly due to my age. There are no other factors involved,” he explained.
He further emphasized that his departure is not linked to any disagreements with the government, reaffirming that his relationship with the administration remains positive.
