Raja Reddy Highlights Community Safety Concerns in Point Cook

Liberal candidate for Point Cook Raja Reddy has made community safety a key focus of his campaign ahead of the 2026 Victorian state election, highlighting concerns raised by residents about home break-ins and police response times.

Speaking about a recent listening post in Point Cook, Reddy said one resident described how their home had been broken into while his wife was next door. According to Reddy, she contacted police but waited around 30 minutes for officers to arrive, by which time the intruders had left.

Reddy said the incident had left the family dealing with an ongoing sense of insecurity, arguing that the impact of a break-in extends beyond the loss of property.

“This isn't just one family's story,” Reddy said, describing crime and safety as concerns for residents across Point Cook.

Reddy has linked these concerns to the Victorian Liberals' broader Safer Communities Plan under Opposition Leader Jess Wilson. The plan includes a commitment to recruit 3,000 additional police officers, reopen more than 40 closed or reduced-hour police stations, recruit 200 additional Protective Services Officers and introduce changes described by the party as “Adult Crime, Adult Time” and “Break Bail, Face Jail.”

The Liberal Party has also proposed tougher measures for serious youth offending and changes to bail arrangements for serious offences. These are election commitments rather than policies currently in force.

Reddy is contesting Point Cook for the Liberals against sitting Labor MP Mathew Hilakari at the November 2026 Victorian state election. Reddy was previously the Liberal candidate in Laverton at the 2022 state election and later contested Wyndham City Council's Featherbrook Ward in 2024.

With community safety emerging as a major campaign issue, Reddy says Point Cook residents deserve faster emergency responses and greater confidence in the safety of their homes and neighbourhoods.

“Point Cook deserves safety. Victoria deserves better,” Reddy said.
