Miss World Sri Lanka Prathibha Liyanarachchi Makes History with Top 24 Finish in Sports Challenge

Miss World Sri Lanka Prathibha Liyanarachchi has made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan contestant to reach the finalists in the Miss World Sports Challenge.
The Sports Challenge, one of the fast-track events at Miss World 2026, has now concluded, with Miss World Puerto Rico winning the challenge and becoming the first official member of the competition’s Top 40 finalists.
Liyanarachchi’s achievement marks a significant milestone for Sri Lanka, as she secured a place among the Top 24 in the Sports Challenge from a field of nearly 122 contestants.
The challenge is designed to highlight contestants’ athletic ability, determination, fitness and competitive spirit, forming part of Miss World’s programme of events that showcases qualities beyond the traditional pageant stage.
Her Top 24 finish represents Sri Lanka’s strongest showing yet in the Sports Challenge and provides a proud moment for the country as Liyanarachchi continues her journey at Miss World 2026 in Vietnam.
The 73rd edition of Miss World is being held across Vietnam, with the grand finale scheduled for September 5.
Liyanarachchi’s performance has given Sri Lankan supporters another reason to celebrate as she continues to represent the country on the international stage.
