Police seize 3.5kg of kush cannabis, 2.4kg of hashish from overseas courier package

Police authorities have successfully seized a substantial stock of illicit drugs, consisting of 3.599 kilograms of kush cannabis and 2.409 kilograms of hashish, sent into Sri Lanka via an international private courier service. The recovery was conducted following actionable intelligence obtained during the interrogation of a suspect detained under a detention order.

The parcels had arrived from an overseas location and were disguised to evade detection during routine cargo clearance. Investigative teams tracked the shipment to a courier hub where a detailed inspection confirmed the presence of high-grade kush and hashish concealed within commercial packaging.

Narcotics control officials noted an increasing trend in trafficking syndicates exploiting postal and courier logistics for cross-border contraband smuggling. Further investigations are underway to apprehend the intended local recipients and uncover the international links behind the consignment.
