North Western Province Wins Bodybuilding Championship at 50th National Sports Festival

Colombo, September 24, 2026 — The North Western Province has won the overall bodybuilding championship at the 50th National Sports Festival, while the North Central Province finished as runners-up.

The bodybuilding competition of the 50th National Sports Festival was held yesterday at the Torrington Sports Ground.

A total of 129 athletes representing nine provinces competed across eight weight categories.

The competition was conducted at the indoor sports complex of the Department of Sports Development. Additional Director General of the Department of Sports Development Wajira Gunawardena and several other officials attended the opening ceremony.

The North Western Province secured the overall championship, with the North Central Province finishing as runners-up.

The award for the Best Athlete of the Overall Competition was won by A.M.P.S. Gamage of the North Central Province.

Certificates and awards were presented to the winners at the conclusion of the competition.
