National Lotteries Board Awards Over Rs. 143 Million to Lottery Winners

The National Lotteries Board (NLB) has presented cash prizes worth more than Rs. 143.4 million to a group of lottery winners, including a winner of a luxury car, four jackpot winners and 43 first-prize winners.

The awards ceremony was held at the auditorium of the Ministry of Agriculture, with Deputy Minister Namal Karunaratne, Colombo District Member of Parliament Chandana Sooriyarachchi, NLB Chairman M. D. C. A. Perera, an Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and other distinguished guests in attendance.

The event recognised winners of several lotteries operated by the National Lotteries Board, including Mahajana Sampatha, Govisetha, Handahana and Mega Power. The prize cheques were presented by the distinguished guests.

Six Decades of Creating Winners

The National Lotteries Board has been operating for six decades, producing numerous millionaires and other prize winners across Sri Lanka, including recipients of prizes worth Rs. 2.5 million, Rs. 2 million, Rs. 1 million and Rs. 500,000.

The Board said it remains committed to recognising and introducing its winners to the public while maintaining consumer confidence in its lottery products.

It also highlighted that the purchase of a lottery ticket for Rs. 40 provides consumers with an opportunity to win prizes while contributing to the country's development process.

According to the Board, it had produced 44 cash jackpot winners so far in 2026. The latest prize presentation formed part of its ongoing efforts to recognise successful lottery participants and distribute winnings.

The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the winners and highlighted the National Lotteries Board's continued role in operating lottery programmes across the country.
