· Sri Lanka
The Pink Day Allies programme organised by Museus College to raise awareness of breast cancer and promote community care has completed its first year.
A special first-anniversary event was held at the Museus College auditorium in Colombo, with Principal Sanjeewani Bandara, Indira Cancer Trust Chairperson Dr Lanka Jayasuriya, and Dr Sanjeewa Gunasekara, President of the College of Oncologists, participating as chief guests and delivering remarks.
The Pink Day Allies programme was launched on October 8, 2025, with the aim of increasing awareness of breast cancer within the Museus College community, highlighting the importance of early detection and drawing attention to related health concerns.
Since its launch, the programme has conducted a range of activities to spread awareness about breast cancer. The awareness campaign has also been expanded through initiatives such as Pink Day, using the colour pink as a symbol of breast cancer awareness.
The programme has focused on promoting accurate knowledge about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Organisers said they expect to further expand the programme in the future, with the aim of strengthening public awareness of breast cancer and community-care initiatives.
As part of the first-anniversary programme, students and other participants also took a pledge in support of efforts to eliminate breast cancer.
