Melissa Aluwihare has emerged as the winner of the Falling Walls Lab Sri Lanka 2026, earning the opportunity to represent Sri Lanka at the prestigious Falling Walls Lab Grand Finale in Berlin.

Her award-winning project focuses on developing an AI-powered system designed to detect antimicrobial resistance more quickly and at a significantly lower cost. The innovation addresses one of the most pressing global health challenges, offering a smarter and more efficient approach to identifying drug-resistant infections.
