Massive turnout marks successful conclusion of 2026 Colombo Book Fair

The 2026 Colombo International Book Fair (CIBF), Sri Lanka's premier annual literary exhibition, officially came to a close today, October 4, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo. Having commenced on September 25, the fair spanned 10 days of vibrant literary exchanges, author interactions, and massive public engagement.

Organizers from the Sri Lanka Book Publishers' Association expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming public turnout, noting that the exhibition halls experienced an influx of families, students, and book enthusiasts throughout the week. Stalls featuring local and international publishers, stationery vendors, and educational institutions reported vigorous sales across diverse genres.

The fair served as an essential platform for promoting reading culture nationwide, offering exclusive discounts, launch events for newly published Sinhala, Tamil, and English works, and interactive forums for budding writers. Organizers remarked that the high level of participation reaffirms the resilience and vitality of the country's literary community.
