Man rushed to hospital after shark attack at Glenfield Beach, Geraldton

A man has been rushed to hospital after being attacked by a shark in regional Western Australia. Emergency services were called to Glenfield Beach, north of Geraldton, where the man was mauled about 9.30am on Monday. St John WA said paramedics arrived soon after and rushed the man, aged in his 50s, to Geraldton Health Campus about an hour after the first report, The West reported.

A shark of unknown species and size was reportedly seen about 40m off shore at Drummond Cove Beach, just north of the attack site, according to the WA Government’s shark-tracking website SharkSmart. The state’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) confirmed it is investigating a “reported shark incident”. “DPIRD is working with local authorities and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
