Man and police officer injured after six-metre fall during foot chase at Browns Plains shopping centre

A man and a police officer have been injured after falling several metres while police pursued the man at a shopping centre Police attempted to speak with a 36-year-old man walking through a car park off Grand Plaza Dr at in Browns Plains, Logan, at about 1pm on Thursday.

The man allegedly fled on foot, jumping over a wall before falling several metres to the ground. “A police officer who was chasing the man on foot also fell.,” Queensland Police Service said. Both men were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital following the fall, with the 36-year-old suffering head injuries and the officer sustaining a shoulder injury.

The officer has since been discharged from hospital, while investigations into the incident remain ongoing. Police searched a nearby vehicle for several hours, with officers believing it may be connected to the incident. Investigations remain ongoing under the oversight of the Ethical Standards Command.
