Sri Lanka Army Welcomes Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne as New Commander

Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne has been appointed as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

The appointment was announced by Defence Secretary Sampath Thuyacontha, who confirmed that the decision was made by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Lieutenant General Premaratne assumes the leadership of the Army following the completion of the tenure of Lasantha Rodrigo, who served as the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.

The transition marks a new chapter for the country’s military leadership, with the newly appointed Army Commander taking charge of one of Sri Lanka’s key national institutions.
