Fatal accident in Kandana: train collides with three-wheeler, two killed

Two people have died following a tragic collision between a train and a three-wheeler near Kandana on the morning of the 9th, police confirmed.
The accident took place around 7.10 a.m. at the level crossing between Kapuwatta and Kandana, when a train travelling from Chilaw to Colombo Fort struck a three-wheeler.
According to police, the warning lights and alarm system at the crossing were functioning at the time. However, the three-wheeler driver reportedly attempted to cross the railway track despite the signals.
Both the driver and a 75-year-old female passenger from Ja-Ela died in the crash. Authorities said the identity of the driver has not yet been confirmed.
Kandana Police have launched further investigations into the incident.
