Julian Bolling stands among the most celebrated figures in the history of Sri Lankan swimming, leaving behind a remarkable legacy at the South Asian Games and on the Olympic stage.
Bolling holds an outstanding record of winning 15 gold medals at the South Asian Games (SAF Games), a feat that has made him one of Sri Lanka’s most successful swimmers in the history of the regional competition. His achievements earned him the affectionate nickname “Golden Fish” among Sri Lankan sports fans.
His international career also saw him represent Sri Lanka at three consecutive Olympic Games — Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992. His performances in the pool during an era when Sri Lankan swimming was gaining international recognition made him a prominent sporting figure in the country.
