Jetavanaramaya Featured by CNN Travel, Spotlighting Sri Lanka’s Ancient Heritage

Sri Lanka’s ancient city of Anuradhapura has gained international attention after the magnificent Jetavanaramaya Stupa was featured by CNN Travel.

The feature highlights the historic monument, its remarkable ancient architecture and Sri Lanka’s living Buddhist heritage. The story was also shared on CNN International’s official Facebook page and across other digital platforms, reaching a global audience of more than 295 million, according to Sri Lanka Tourism.

The feature follows a visit to Sri Lanka by US journalist Justin Calderon under the Sri Lanka Tourism Visiting Journalist Programme 2026.

The international coverage is expected to further showcase Anuradhapura and its rich cultural heritage to audiences around the world, while highlighting Sri Lanka’s significance as a destination for history, culture and Buddhist heritage.
