Jaswar Umar Takes on Two New South Asian Football Leadership Roles

Sri Lanka Football Federation President Jaswar Umar has taken on two additional leadership positions within South Asian football, further expanding his regional responsibilities.

Umar has been appointed Senior Vice President of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) and President of the South Asian Football Committee.

He also currently serves on the FIFA Grassroots & Amateur Football Committee and the AFC Development Committee.

During his tenure at the Sri Lanka Football Federation, efforts have focused on strengthening the national team, appointing an international-level coach, increasing international match opportunities, attracting investment and sponsorship, and expanding football development programmes.

Sri Lanka's FIFA ranking has also improved from 207th to 186th, a rise of 21 places.

Umar has outlined an ambition to build a competitive Sri Lankan team at South Asian level and reclaim the SAFF Championship, which Sri Lanka last won in 1995.

With his expanded regional roles, Umar is set to contribute to football development and competition across South Asia while continuing his responsibilities with Sri Lankan football.
