Japan Hosts Unusual Competition to Find the Best Sleeper
· World
Japan has hosted an unusual sleep competition in Tokyo, where dozens of participants competed to achieve the best sleep during a 90-minute session.
Known as the “Matt Race,” the event used sleep-monitoring devices to evaluate participants based on factors including how quickly they fell asleep, sleep depth, sleep quality and stability.
Participants competed to achieve the strongest overall sleep performance during the timed session.
The winner was awarded a prize of 2.22 million yen, worth approximately US$14,000, making sleep the unlikely focus of a highly competitive event.
