India Women Decline Asia Cup Trophy From ACC President After Beating Sri Lanka

India’s women’s cricket team declined to accept the Asia Cup trophy directly from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi following their victory over Sri Lanka in the final.

During the post-match presentation, the Indian players stayed away from the trophy presentation, with the team choosing not to receive the trophy directly from Naqvi. The Sri Lankan players, meanwhile, collected their runners-up medals during the ceremony.

India’s refusal was linked to Naqvi’s position as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, alongside his roles as ACC President and chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Indian side reportedly did not want to receive the trophy from him amid continuing political tensions between India and Pakistan.
