India’s Women Clinch Gold in 4x100m Relay at Asian Championships

India’s women’s 4x100m relay team delivered a standout performance to secure the gold medal at the 2nd Asian Relay Championships held in Shangyu. The quartet of Srabani Nanda, S.S. Sneha, Sudeshna Shivankar, and Tamanna clocked an impressive season-best time of 43.85 seconds, finishing ahead of strong contenders China and Thailand.

The victory marks a significant improvement from last year’s result, where the team had settled for silver. This time, their speed, precision, and seamless baton exchanges ensured they reached the top of the podium.

India’s success in the competition extended beyond this event, with the team concluding the championships with a total of three medals. They also secured a silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay and a bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay, highlighting a strong overall showing at the meet.

The athletes’ performance drew widespread praise from officials and fans alike. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Srabani Nanda, who hails from the state, applauding her contribution to the team’s golden achievement.

The result underscores India’s growing strength in relay events on the continental stage and reflects the team’s continued progress and determination.
